This month NIIM has enrolled its 28th patient into the AGE at Heart trial.
We would like to express our gratitude to the clinics and doctors who have been supporting the AGE at Heart trial, in particular The Medical Clinic in Glenferrie Rd with Dr Teperman, Dr Preston and Dr Luxton; the Distinct Health Care Clinic in Dandenong with Dr Jigau, and the NIIM clinic with Prof Sali, Dr Dagley, Dr Augustat, and the Wellbeing Clinic in Ashburton with Dr Holsman.

The AGE at Heart trial is investigating the effect of a garlic supplement on blood pressure, cholesterol, and other heart health markers.

The trial is taking place at the NIIM clinical trial centre in Hawthorn, Melbourne, in 2013 and 2014.

We are seeking adults

  • with high blood pressure (> 140/90 mm Hg)
  • who are not taking garlic supplements daily, and
  • who would be able to come to the NIIM clinical trial centre monthly for 3 months

You can participate whether or not you are already taking blood pressure medication. It is important, however, that you are not planning to change any current BP treatment during the trial.

Participants receive

  • free trial supplements
  • free blood pressure checks
  • free blood test results
  • reimbursement for time and travel

The AGE at Heart trial is registered with the Australian New Zealand Clinical Trial Registry and has received HREC ethics approval.
