Research governance is the responsibility of the institution where the research is being conducted. Research governance encompasses both ensuring adequate ethical review and institutional considerations about undertaking research in the context of the institution’s policies, strategic priorities, expertise, resources, contractual arrangements, financial issues and approach to risk management.
The Research Governance Committee (RGC) is appointed by the NIIM Board of the Directors, and runs alongside the Human Research Ethics Committee (HREC).
The RGC will review the proposed research projects in the context of the institution’s financial resourcing and contractual arrangements which includes research budgets and research grants.
